    Weird question: I am not British, but just recently watched the beef wellington episode. I was wondering what it would be like, or if you had tried subbing out some of the elements (i.e. substitute the mustard with a more American BBQ sauce or brown sauce or something)

    hi, what spices did you use for aubergine? oregano, nori, salt what else? and for cashew sauce did you use xanthan gum? It's hard to understand for a foreigner))

    I'm a child of the sixties and we didn't have a lot, so meat of course was too expensive. Nevertheless, my mother always made "Schnitzel" (I am German), BUT: there was no meat, it was aubergine. So what you are doing there is very common to me, I eat aubergine-Schnitzel to this day (actually just made it three days ago). The only thing I recommend is to peel it, salt it and let it sweat for 30 mins (that takes away the bitterness and the skin is hard to eat anyways. For the rest pretty similar to yours, I bread it and fry it in the pan (I use panko for some extra crunch). Bon appetit! By the way this is a popular dish from the former Yugoslavija, where my parents grew up.

    As a person who grew up lacto-vegetarian and who has never craved meat, it feels nice to hear Ben talk about celebrating the vegetable and not mimic meat dishes. When I hear vegan chicken, I feel like I'm eaiting meat which actually grosses me out and makes me nauseaus.

    Fully get what ebbers is trying to say. If you're going vegan then why do you want to replicate a meat product. Celebrate the veg for what they are and don't call it something it's not.

    I tried banana blossom fish and chips in London in a place called Sutton and sons my friend is Vegan and tbh I loved i was very surprised and would be happy to eat it again. She also took me for a jack fruit burger and it was lovely aswell would recommend :)

    Another thing to try is oyster mushrooms. I love them just cause they taste supper yummy and already have a fishy texture and taste when cooked right. Amazing "fish" tacos that is something my whole family (a mix of Vegans and non vegans) ask me to make all the time!

    As a Filipino, that's a new way to cook banana blossoms and it's making me want to try it. I only saw it as garnished in Adobo or cooked as a salad (made like a potato salad) BTW, wanna try a pass it on with some Iconic filipino dish? Order will be Overseas travel history.

    I've been bed ridden for 3 days because of gastroenteritis with a high fever and severe loss of appetite feeling crummy, the 8:22 - 8:59 mark moment made me laugh and made me feel a bit better. Never change Ben, never change.

    SORTEDfood tried it today and OMG so good! I eat keto so I made my batter out of almond flour and powdered Parmesan which gave it the perfect amount of saltiness. I will definitely be adding this to my repertoire and bonus I learned how to deep fry on the stove without setting the fire alarm off 💚 # the pic on Facebook

    Everyone's talking about the banana blossom and Ben, and I'm just here wondering why xanthan gum wasn't explained?? What is it? What does it do? Where can you get it? And can I just leave it out cos I have no idea where I would even find that here..

    I have never heard of banana blossom as a food, and here in Central Florida we grow them and have a good sized Indian and Vietnamese population. I don't like jackfruit so I would be apprehensive about trying it.

    4:31 So I tried that last two times I had frozen peas, and it didn't work for me. The boiling water warmed the peas up, yes - but only to the point where they weren't frozen any more. Had to chuck them in the microwave to actually have warm peas.

    Haven't watched Sorted videos for a long time and I really don't know how they changed the concept here.. I remember watching them 7/8 years ago.. They used to be guided by the chef when they cooked.

    Fish is fish and vegetables are vegetables, plants can't be converted to animal protein, vice versa, they don't taste the same, no matter how you cook it. If you don't like fish or other animal protein, just enjoy your eggplant and other veggies.

    Has anyone in london been to Sutton and Sons? They do an INCREDIBLE banana blossom fish and chips, as well as vegan calamari and prawns! I’d love to see the guys go there :)

    Haha omg I just commented about Sutton and sons banana blossom and was scrolling and seen your comment!! I'm not vegan but tried it when I went to London last year it was lovely. Had a jack fruit charcoal burger aswell from somewere else and was great.

    I have never really been into imitation meat. Especially those beyond burgers or what have you. I miss certain things. But mostly it's me lacking something my favourite sides go with. And although aubergine has never been my favourite, this would be great for me. Cos it's just as much the batter, chips and sauces that are the experience. Mushy peas from marrowfat peas has never been my favourite so I will absolutely try make it with frozen garden peas. I'm guessing they started making the pea side with marrowfat peas cos they were dried and not reliant on season. But then again. Dates I've found online says mushy peas are only from the 1970s. We had freezers then with bags of garden peas, didn't we? lol Edit: ah yeah, found some better dates. Mid-1800s seem better. Still reading now. Interesting. It's kinda like the traditional Danish soup made on marrowfat peas (meat and soup veg too) "Yellow Peas" first recorded 1766. The marrowfat peas were great for dealing with the saltiness of the salted meats used during the winter.

    For anyone that hasn't tried Banana Blossom this way; you must try it. I tried some blossom right out of the can and after it got battered and fried and somehow when it's battered and fried it tastes so much different, and so much like fish. I have no idea why this is, you just have to experience it for yourself. You don't even need a proper tartar sauce either; I used mayo and it was just as good.

    Mmmhhh... I am really torn by this video: The result looks phenomenal, but try to sell it to me as vegan fish and chips and it will be a hard NO! No fish, see? Re-badge it as "British-style vegetable tempura" and I'm your man. Otherwise it's a lie, like caffeine-free coffee, sugar-free sugar, alcohol-free beer or wine, meat-free meat... Not having a go at vegans, but why does it have to be pretend-this or pretend-that? Present it as what it is, I'll give it a shot. Sell me a pig in a poke, no.

    Guys you definitely need to look into and practice using banana blossom for the fish and chips ahahaha . Have a look at avant garde vegan, as you should have used the seaweed for that as well, so it would have actually tasted fishy!

    I'm living in London now for 2.5 years and I love vinegar chips (I don't think I'll ever use the british words though) by now, the tougher the better but soggy fries are an absolute abomination! Why would anyone ever do this? Why do you people hate yourself so much? :(

    Thank you for doing more vegan options!!!! Try making some yummy Alfredo, I learned if you add nutritional yeast, lime juice, and vegan sour cream with some seasonings and you got it. Add some vegan sausages and some broccoli and cauliflower with the pasta and it’s seriously the best thing ever. Man I would love to cook y’all some vegan dishes and tech you tricks
