Sorry guys this was a fail. Chocolate was merely a footnote in this dish, not the focus. The fact that only the third person even started thinking about chocolate is proof enough. Also the methodology was very flawed, sorry Mike but that was a terrible idea to start with, neither you nor Jamie posess the techniques necessary to pull off a crepe cake, and you didn't have nearly enough time! I think Ben has proven that he's the most reliable person to go first in these challenges, boring/safe as his ideas may be. James does wonderfully sometimes, but he also flops like crazy sometimes. Mike and Barry have decent ideas but no sense of how things are going to go past their turn. Jamie might actually be the second best choice to go first imo, because he usually goes for something he knows very well and there's the least pressure on him in that position, and if he messes up, other guys can just make up an entirely new dish afterwards with enough time to cook it fully.

As soon as James said "carrots", I literally said to the screen of my phone "I thought you were supposed to be a chef". Carrots? Really carrots with sweet crepes, all the varieties of chocolate, a sweeted cream cheese, a chocolate ganash, and all the other garnishes. Then I thought well maybe it will work since he's candying them. But no. Carrot don't belong on that dish!

Why does James think he knows better than all the others, why try and change a challenge half way through because he knows better. And why oh why does he have to keep putting his hands on the side of his face and do a silly dance, saying what do I do, what do I do. You're a chef, man up and chef!

All thing considered, I would call it a pass...but the one thing I would do, which wouldn't be a massive change, but would still be a change would be to replace the candied carrots with candied parsnips. Parsnips are sweeter, a bit less earthy, and a bit more herbal...all of which I personally think would be a better fit here. Side note here: parsnips are very unfairly underutilized in the modern kitchen, and if you've never had them, do yourself a favor and try them. One of my favorite things in the world is parsnip jam, which is an absolute wonder spread for something like a simple ham and Swiss biscuit (American biscuit) sandwich.

I'd rate you guys in the following order: Ben, Barry, Jamie, Mike, James primarily because I thought jamie did "okay", but yea, I mean, putting a candied carrot in something seems like something that would happen in 2020.
