When Barry and Jamie go head-to-head in a cooking battle, they often copy each other to get by… but what happens when we split them up so they can’t see each other cooking? Today is the day that we find out!!
In this episode, our resident Chef, Ben, guides our Normals into making one of the most difficult pastry dishes to master: the Mille Feuille. With a no-nonsense approach, lots of cheffy jargon and a heavily technical process to follow, will our Normals be able to ‘think like a chef’? Or will they crack under pressure?

    I still feel like if Ben wasn't holding Barry's hand so much and was more strict with the "you'll be told what to do once and you have to listen like a chef", Barry would've created something very different from a millefeuille

    I feel like Jamie got slightly screwed over on this one, yes his wasn't as good taste wise, however the challenge is called think likea chef (which he did more) and HOW many times did Barry ask for repeat directions?! I am not the world's best listener but this to me part of this challenge was not just following to directions but LISTENING to them...the first repeat or 2 ok...by the time it was multiple repeats of multiple instructions I felt that should have been an instant religation.

    tbh no clue how barry won that one, considering the challenge was the "think like a chef" and considering both had no clue how to do this - I think jamies actually was closer to how it was supposed to be. But this challenge was fun. While I like their chemistry in their battles, helping each other in a way almost, this one was fun to watch too.

    Poor Barry! I have same problem. ADHD makes this stuff hard, wonder if he's ever been checked for it. Watching the guys rib him for his difficulty with anything from math to keeping up with steps reminds me of my brothers ribbing me.

    Hi. I enjoy your videos. Very entertaining. I'd like to point out though that the filling you made is crème madame, not crème diplomate. Crème diplomate has gelatin. That's why your cream lacked a bit of structure. I'm sure it's just as delicious though. 😊

    i think Ben was too lenient with Barry, i think the contestants should only be allowed to ask for a repeat of the instructions once per new set, or, better yet, for more chaos in the kitchen and entertainment for us, 1 repeat for the whole contest, its up to them to choose when they need it, bonus points if they dont need it

    You shouldn’t add cornflour to the eggs because you will get lumpy custard. What you should do is separate a bit of warm milk and mix till smooth! The once the remainder of the milk or cream boils you add it and whisk till smooth then put chill. Once it’s cold and hard you whisk again to get desired consistency. ( don’t over whisk) btw the pastry was rolled to thick that’s why it’s looks so puffy.. just saying ;D

    Tbh black pepper in sweet pastry sounds really good. The floral warmth could really add something as long as it wasn't too much making it too hot. I could totally see a black pepper cake or something!

    Love the video as always! Separating them like that is such a fun challenge idea! But while I agree Barry's end result is more successful, in a challenge based on thinking like a chef I think Jamie really should have won since he did think like a chef a lot more often in his process than Barry. Loved both the results and both you boys though, thank you for all the videos!

    Milfwei? Lol... It is pronounced completelty differently, here is a lot of stress on the J sound in the end. His French is abysmal, it never stood out as much as in this episode.
